At this time of year when we reflect on all the things we are most thankful for, pets always come to mind. Pets bring so much to our lives. I bet you could ask any of our pet parents what they are thankful for and inevitably they will respond with some version of a list that includes their pets. They just seem to automatically know when you are having a good day or a bad day.
They sense when you are sad or feeling lonely, and let’s not forget the unconditional love that they dole out every time you walk through the door.
So, on your list of things to be grateful for this year, make sure you include your pets! Happy Thanksgiving!
If sneaking them a nibble of turkey make sure it is bone free.
Sage makes your stuffing taste great but it contains herbs and essential oils that can cause gastrointestinal upset and central nervous system depression to pets if eaten in large quantities.
Don’t give your pet raw bread dough. According to ASPCA experts, when raw bread dough is ingested, an animal’s body heat causes the dough to rise in his stomach. As it expands, the pet may experience vomiting, severe abdominal pain and bloating, which could become a life-threatening emergency, requiring surgery.
If you want to share your feast with your pet, offer them a Kong stuffed with their usual dinner with a few added tidbits of turkey, sweet potato or green beans (small tidbits). They will stay busy working hard to extract their dinner while you enjoy yours.
If you want to give your dog a more dog friendly Thanksgiving meal, the Poway location carries Merrick Thanksgiving Feast canned dog food as well as a variety of other Merrick holiday flavors.
We hope you and your pets have a fun and safe Thanksgiving.
